German Chancellor Olaf Scholz says that Russia must withdraw its troops from the territory of Ukraine and wait for peace talks.
“Russia must understand that it does not have the right to achieve what it wants: the demands that it imposes on Ukraine cannot be fulfilled. And Ukraine needs substantial assistance, both financial and military. And it is necessary that Russia withdraws its troops and that it sticks to peaceful negotiations,” Scholz said at a preconference after a meeting of the leaders of Ukraine, France, Germany, Italy and Romania in Kyiv on Thursday.
He said that only Ukraine, its president, parliament and the Ukrainian people can decide what is important for them.
“And we can only agree on peace in their understanding,” the German chancellor added.

Він зазначив, що тільки Україна, її президент, парламент і український народ можуть вирішувати, що для них важливо.
“І ми можемо домовитися про мир тільки в їхньому розумінні”, – підкреслил канцлер Німеччини.
